The Impact of HSG 264 Asbestos Survey Guide on the social housing sector
The long awaited publication ‘Asbestos: The Survey Guide HSG264′ has now been published. After spending some time digesting the content of the document I have, as promised at the recent NHMF conference, produced an initial assessment which considers some of the key changes and the impact they will have on Registered Social Landlords (RSL’s).
The document is no longer part of the MDHS (Methods of Determination of Hazard Substances) range of documents and instead is within the HSG (Health and Safety Guidance) group of documents.
Documents within the HSG range are targeted at both professionals and also those employing such professionals. They represent best practice in terms of guidance and as with all documents of this nature will require case law to determine the level of application. Read More
HSE Release Asbestos Survey Guide (HSG 264)
The HSE has released the Asbestos Survey Guide (HSG264) which is an illustrated publication that replaces and expands on MDHS100, surveying, sampling and assessment of asbestos-containing materials. It is aimed at people carrying out asbestos surveys and people with specific responsibilities for managing asbestos in non-domestic premises under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006. The book covers competence and quality assurance and surveys, including: survey planning, carrying out surveys, the survey report and the Dutyholder’s use of the survey information. It includes extensive appendices and references.
UKAS Accredited Asbestos Inspection Bodies (AIB) launch Industry Blog
Further to the HSE Asbestos Survey Guide (HSG 264) UKAS Accredited Inspection Bodies launch Industry Blog
Following the recent HSE publication of HSG 264 – the Asbestos Survey Guide, a brand new asbestos surveying, industry-focused blog has been formed. The blog has been developed to further promote HSE’s message that client need to ensure they select competent organisations and that this can clearly be demonstrated by selecting UKAS accredited or certified surveyors for asbestos surveys.
